The Flagg Farmhouse was built in 1871 for Cornelius Flagg, one of four entrepreneurs who founded the town of Sherman and were responsible for bringing the railroad to Springfield.

Mr Flagg owned extensive farm and lumber holdings and sold railroad ties to as many as ten railroad companies as the rail industry developed across America
